Okay went to the doc yesterday for the annual exam.....and to talk about the hysterectomy....i didnt even have to ask her she is quite worried about my having a period every nine or so days and the pain i get in my left lower quadrant all the time and the fact that my endometriosis is being a pain in the you know where....i could not have the pap done cuz i am still having the icky period (although she tried..and man did that suck)....so i have to go back in 2 weeks for that and an endometrial biopsy..then schedule the hysterectomy..anyone ever had an endometrial biopsy before? i know i am going to have it done in her office..i suppose it will involve some cramping am i correct?? i just want to know what i need to do to mentally prepare myself ya know?
yes, there is strong cramping, but not very long. Take a strong painkiller like ibuoprofen an hour beforehand. My gyno let me take a heating pad to use during the procedure, or you can use one of the disposable heating pads now that last 12 hours.
I've had endometrial biopsies done four times over the past few years w/o any pain medication beforehand. It really isn't that bad, just a quick pinch and it's over in about 10 seconds. I had some spotting and a bit of cramping afterwards and felt fine later on. I guess I'm just used to it by now! LOL!
I suffered from endometriosis for many, many years and I finally had an endometrial biopsy done and I concur with Diane. The pain only lasted seconds, a little cramping afterwards and that was it. Fortunately the results came back negative. Good Luck and let us know how it goes.<p>[This message has been edited by China jGirl (edited 11-25-2002).]
