A few weeks ago I found out I had chlamydia. I took antibiotics for it, and then about a week later I went to the clinic because I still had some symptoms - itching and discharge with occasional brownish tinge or spots of blood in it. I explained all this to the doctor and he re-tested me for chlamydia as well as all other STD's. He also gave me Diflucan in case I'd gotten a yeast infection from the antibiotics. So, a week has passed and I got my results -- all negative. I don't have an STD, and have already been treated for a yeast infection, yet my symptoms still persist. For a few days it was better and I hardly noticed any discharge. But now today it's back. Again, occasional little spots of blood in the discharge. It's really scaring me and I intend to go back to the doctor AGAIN if necessary, but I wish someone could give me an idea of what's going on. I've never had this problem before. It seems like it has to be related to having chlamydia, because that's when all my problems started, but I've been cured of that, so what could it be?
Hi, sounds like your not having much fun right now!
but there are lots of other things other then std's and a yeast infection that can cause this! have you asked about being tested for bacteria? also you should be tested again for yeast because I know a friend who took the Duflican pill and it didn't take the yeast away! she needed more treatment.
good luck! and hang in there!
Hi! I know what you're going through. I had the same symptoms and it was a normal bacterial infection. I kept getting yeast too even after it was treated. Keep going back to your doctor and ask to be treated for a normal bacterial infection with an antibiotic and get treated for yeast at the same time.
Hi - thanks for the replies. Since posting the first time, I've been back to the doctor and been tested for bacteria. I also had a urine test. The doctor said she didn't think it looked like a yeast infection because the discharge wasn't "cottage cheese-y". Right after my visit to the doctor, I started my period, so it was hard to tell whether I was still having any abnormal discharge. My doctor called me a couple days later and told me all the tests were negative. Now my period is over and I still don't feel normal. I've still had discharge and a slight itching and discomfort. Also an occasional mild lower pelvic pain. I'm worried, but I don't know what it could be, if it's not an STD, not bacteria and not yeast.
Hi! I know it is very frustrating not being able to find out what your problem is!
here is a site you might find helpfull: <A HREF="http://obgyn.uihc.uiowa.edu/Patinfo/Vulvar/vulvar.htm" TARGET=_blank>http://obgyn.uihc.uiowa.edu/Patinfo/Vulvar/vulvar.htm</A>
also, yeast does not "always" cause a cottage chess like disscharge! so, if she/he did not test you for yeast again go back!!
you should also ask to be refered to a specialist, (Gynecologist).
There are lots of things that can cause this! trust me, I went through that for a year!
Hope this helps!
I'm wondering if it might be a mild case of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. As I mentioned in my first post, this all started with me having chlamydia. I'd never had any problems before. And now I have these ongoing symptoms that include discharge, spotting, pain with intercourse, and lower abdominal pain. None of it is severe at this time. Those are all symptoms of PID. However, 2 different doctors (actually one was a Nurse Midwife and one was a Physicians Assistant) who examined me told me that I don't have PID if I don't experience pain when they jiggle my reproductive organs manually. I don't know what to think.
Have they retested you for std's?? It is possible that it did not totaly clear up.
when you go back have them "test you" for "all" infections! This is "the only" way to know for sure what is going on! If this doctor will not test you then see another doctor because the one that you are seeing sounds like he/she is more interested in getting paid for all on you appintments rather then helping you!!
Yes, I have already been retested for all STD's. That was my first guess, since as you said, it didn't seem like it had completely cleared up. But the tests came back negative. Then after that is when I was also tested for bacterial infections, and those tests were negative too.
So would it make any sense to just have them retest for everything again, even though all the results were negative?
