<IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/confused.gif"> Prior to getting my period every month, I always wonder if it can cause slight constipation. I noticed I get constipated just a few days before my period is due. Is this normal? Can the hormones throw your digestion off balance or anything? Do anyone of you suffer from this?
Yes, constipation can be part of PMS. Supposedly, its because of the hormones and the fact that your body is getting ready to shed its uterine lining. Also, its not unusual to have loose bowels or stomach upset once you get your period due to the extra prostaglandins in your system (they help the uterus contract to shed its lining).
