Ok, so my urinary area, shall we say, burns increadibly bad when I pee and for the rest of the day it just kinda feels like I need to pee, when I don't. I had to start using Vagasil because it itched down there from messing around with my boyfriend. That fixed the itching problem but it made it burn increadibly bad. That finally wore off, but now it burns when I pee. I'm hoping that this problem is from the Vagasil just not being completely washed out, or if there's some other more serious issue I need to know about. I'm worrying out of my mind, so please let me know what this means. Thanks
I agree with Summer - it's probably a Urinary Tract Infection but that has to be determined by a urine test. You'll probably have to wait until Monday to see the doctor - but if you're running any sort of fever or having discomfort on your back, you might try calling your doctor and see if there's any harm in getting some Pyridium perscribed - it takes the pain out of peeing for the interim. You could always go to one of those "Doc in a Box" over the weekend to get tested for the UTI.
They suck and they hurt and they have to be addressed or they can get into your bladder and kidneys.
You can try drinking lots of water or natural cranberry juice - the stuff from the health food stores not the sugary stuff like Ocean Spray.
Stay away from sodas and salty foods - tends to dehydrate you.
If you're sexually active, it's important to urinate after sex (my doc says within 30 mins). Keep yourself "clean" by wiping towards the back. Wear cotton panties. No thongs while you're suffering - bacteria can travel from "back to front" and infect you. (Doctors have seen a HUGE rise in UTI's and vaginitis since thongs have become the rage)
Good luck and keep us posted. And remember, if you're running a fever and/or have lower back pain, you need to see the doc. (Don't call an ambulance or anything, you just need to get checked out)
Definitely sounds like a bladder infection (or UTI) - there's a way you could get a better idea if that's what it is - pee into a little jar and look at the urine, even though it may not look cloudy, if you see what looks like little pieces of "skin" floating around in it, I'd say it's definitely a bladder infection. If you DON'T see it, that doesn't mean it isn't, but if you DO see it, it's almost a 100% gaurantee.
Oh you poor thing. I JUST got home from the emergency room right now because I had a UTI, It was dredful and soooo painful I couldn't bare to go another day like this. They stuck somthing like the size of a number 2 pencil up my pee hole and got the sample they needed. And I got perscribed phenazopyrid for the burning, only have to take this for 3 days, and Bactrim for the infection its self for only one week. Its best to get checked out a.s.a.p.. I guess its caused from not drinking enough water, and not allowing yourself to go pee when you need to, Don't hold it in. Also drink cranberry juice.
[This message has been edited by PandaExpress (edited 08-03-2002).]
Yes, you can get cystitis from having sex. Have you heard of 'Honeymoon Cystitis'?
Just make sure that you drink plenty of fluids and Cranberry juice is helpful in preventing UTI's. The more you drink the more it flushes bacteria through the urethra and out through the bladder. If you don't drink enough, then bacteria can just sit there and start to cause an infection. Also, after a BM, ensure that you wipe backwards as bacteria that normally live in the gut can transfer into the urethra and if they get into the bladder they can also cause infection.
Hi. You can get uti's from having sex. I use to get them and couldn't understand why. The doc told me to make sure you urinate before and after having sex and to also use a lubricant w/sex because it gets too dry and swollen and that leads to uti's. I started this after he told me what to do and never had a problem until I had to take amoxicillin for a different infection which caused a yeast infection. I am a walking time bomb. I just started working out and hopefully going to feel better. Hope you feel better.
I think (could be wrong tho) there are also some over the counter test strips that you can buy that will allow you to test if you have a urinary tract infection or not. However, they are not available everywhere, and you need to make sure that you go to a doctor if it continues.
[This message has been edited by purple2067 (edited 08-12-2002).]
