Is the only reason it's suggested to use condoms......

WITH birth control so that you don't get HIV/STDs??

Does this recommendation have ANYTHING to do with a person who takes the pill every day (also virgin) and is with a partner who is a virgin?

Re: Is the only reason it's suggested to use condoms......

There are two reasons to use condoms with other forms of birth control. The first being to prevent the spread of stds. Yes even virgins can have them. Second being to have back-up protection just in case one birth control fails. No matter how perfect one is at taking their bc pills they can fail and lead to an unplanned pregnancy. By making your partner use condoms then a good habit is formed for times that you might be on meds that effect bc. If you are already in the habit of using condoms then you wont forget when you are antibotics that change the effectiveness of bc.
Again bc can and does fail and condoms give you added protection.
Another little note condoms make sex less messy. Because what goes in also comes out.... Granted towels can be kept handy but they dont catch it all.

That's basically the only reason Angela. I wouldn't worry if I was you. It is so unlikely you'll get pregnant on the pill if you take them correctly. That is why they were invented, so as not to have to use condoms...You'll hear horror stories from all the ladies who's friends mothers sisters aunt got pregnant while on the pill but it's very very very rare.

Now if you get a new partner, that is not a virgin, I'd suggest condoms as it will protect you from STD's.

Linderella, it actually isnt that rare for women to get pregnant while on the pill. Go t the pregnancy board and talk to some of the ladies on there some of them have "pill babies" Granted some were because antibiotics were being taking and condoms werent used but some the pills were taken correctly and yet they still got pregnant. It fails sometimes for no reason at all and then one is left to deal with that failure.
That is why it there is the saying no birth control is 100% safe.
Also like I said even virgins can have stds and unless one has had testing done it is truly better to be safe instead of sorry.

Condoms make sex so much cleaner!

Also, I know of a couple of people who got pregnant while on the pill...and yes, they were taking them regularily. Sometimes it just doesn't work right...especially if you are a little overweight.

If you TRULY don't want to get pregnant, than I would suggest using the pill and condoms. This way there would be virtually no chance of pregnancy.

Have fun and be safe.

Re: Is the only reason it's suggested to use condoms......

If you are both virgins, you probably wouldn't need them if you are on the pill...but why take chances you don't have to? If anything it would be good to be in the habit of using them until you are married and know that an accidental pregnancy wouldn't put your future in jeopardy. They really have come a long way in both comfort and fit. If you choose the right condom, you'll both barely notice it's there. (AND no mess!)
