bleeding almost everyday

Hi everyone! I am worried and wonder if anyone else has had something similar to this. I am bleeding almost everyday. Mostly spotting. I started my period at age 13 and it was very irregular. I could go for years without even spotting. I have seen my gyno for many many problems. Had several yeast infections, (was tested for diabetes and it was negative), urinary tract infections, kidney stones. You name it I have it. In all of these blood tests they also found my bad cholesteral was high and also my testosterone level. I also have abnormal hair growth, weight that is hard to loose ect. All signs of PCOS. I just had my ultrasound a few days ago to see if I have PCOS or not.

I also am having a coloscopy in December for 2 abnormal pap smears. Which as the results said was difficult to see because of inflamation. But on top of all this.. I went from no bleeding to bleeding almost everyday now. It seems like it will finally stop. Then I have sexual intercourse or even my work brings it on. I have read on the internet that women with high levels of testosterone will have problems with the walls of the vagina thinning out and dryness. Which could be causing the bleeding with intercourse. But even if I go a week without intercourse my job brings it on also. Even after I had my ultrasound. Just from her pressing on my uterus and surrounding areas I came home and shed a blood clot.

So you can see why I am really worried. And hoping and praying that it is not any form of cancer. I have had 2 children and desire no more so a hysterectomy would not bother me at this point. Just to get it done and over with...

Thanks to everyone and thanks for a great board to ask our questions.

Re: bleeding almost everyday

Hi Michelle,

I too just went through this and actually just today had a follow up appt with my OBGYN and was diagnosed with PCOS.

If you need anyone to talk to please feel free to contact me at Also, I have some great sites for PCOS if you are interested in the links. And a mailing list address as well, which really helped me understand and ease my mind, through my waiting.

Hang in there!

Re: bleeding almost everyday

I have had similar problems with my menstrual cycle. I too am very irregular. I have had a couple of times where I have bleed for two weeks straight, stopped for a day or two and bleed for another two weeks or more. I would also have pain in the pelvic area that I could tell was not the usual cramping you get with your period. Everytime this happens I end up having an infection. Are you having any pain? Have you been tested recently for an infection? Won't hurt. It wouldn't explain the irregular cycle but maybe the constant bleeding. Hope you find out what's wrong and it's nothing major. I know how it is when the doctors can't figure out what's wrong.

Re: bleeding almost everyday

Thank you both for replying. As far as PCOS goes Gina I have read so much on the internet about it. I never knew there was such a thing untill I stumbled upon it on another board. I am still awaiting my test results about it. I am too tired of waiting and think I shall call my doctor on Monday. Did PCOS ever make you bleed like I have described?

And I sure do know what your talking about neeleyjs. For about a week now I have had pain on my right side where my ovaries are. And at times it is burning me something terrible. I have been tested and re-tested for a yeast infection, urinary tract infection. All negative. Now there going to do a coloscopy on me in December as I have had 2 abnormal pap smears. And it really stinks while your waiting for answers. I am 34 now and had no way to go to a doctor and just wondered all this time what was wrong with me. Now I want to know!

Re: bleeding almost everyday

Since your testosterone level is high, you seem to have a hormonal imbalance. Try taking Vitamin E (regular not dry) it is a great hormone balancer and lowers testosterone levels. When you start taking it, start gradually... 200iu or 400iu once a day, and then you can increase to two or three times a day gradually. You should also do the same if you stop taking it. I also recommend vitamin B6 which rids the body of excess estrogen. If you take a B-complex vitamin it will also help with your skin, hair and nails.

Re: bleeding almost everyday

Thanks again to all who replied. I am still awaiting the answer to my ultrasound. I got the bill faster than I found out what it was for. hahahaha A whopping $772.00 for this test. And on the 11th of December I go for my coloscopy. I went to all the sites that where suggested and found them to be a wealth of information.
