Need opinon - Asking gyno for an Ultral sound?????

I posted before about pain during sex. And I received a response that it could be a cyst & an ultra sound can detect this problem.

I'm going today and since I've complained to my gyno about this pain during sex numerous times, is the Ultra sound the right thing to ask for. All of my PAP's have came back fine.

I'm just so tired of my gyno saying try new sexual positions, and she still says this even though I clearly state to her that this pain during sex just occurred a year ago & I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years with no problem

Sounds to me like your doctor might be trying to brush off your problem. Tell your doctor you would like some testing done to determine why you are still having painful sex. Let the doc determine what tests they feel are appropriate for you but if they won't get to the bottom of your problem then it may be time to consider seeing a different doctor or a different specialist at least.

Re: Need opinon - Asking gyno for an Ultral sound?????

Finally, my gyn. established there might be a problem and she's sending me to the radiologist to get a pelvic sonogram.

I just want to make sure this is the procedure where they put the jelly on your belly? I don't want to get surprised with an invasive procedure!

it is where they put jelly on your stomach and move it around. I had one done a month ago and it only took about 10 minutes. The worst part is all the water you have to drink before hand !!!! I thought that I was going to burst !!!

Re: Need opinon - Asking gyno for an Ultral sound?????

I just had the pelvic ultrasound, which to my surprise was a procedure where a tampon like wand, covered in jelly was inserted into the opening of my vagina.

The dr. said my uterus is tilted, but there is nothing wrong with either of my ovaries or anything else.

My question now is why all of a sudden has sex become painful (for the past year)with the same person, what else could be wrong??

Your doctor should be offering you reasons for the painful sex since the ultrasound was negative. If your doctor can't offer anything then maybe it's time to get another opinion. Painful sex does not just happen for no reason unless it would be psychological which doesn't seem to be your problem since sex was not painful before.

Re: Need opinon - Asking gyno for an Ultral sound?????

I experienced painful intercourse for years and went through all kinds of testing. Turns out I have weak/pulled pelvic floor muscles. I do exercises to help strengthen them and the pain has lessened over time. Don't know if this could be your problem or not but it's something else to consider.
