ovarian cyst rupture

Hello,
My name is Amy, and about 9 days ago, I went to the doctor with terrible pain in my abdomen, to find that I had a cyst rupture.
I was also told that I have 2 complicated hemoorhagic cysts on my right ovary. (They are small) I am going to a gyn for follow up on the 17th of Nov.
Since this happened my insides have been miserable! I am full all the time,
constipated, just miserable I got my period for the second time this month
too. I have pain in my thighs, and lots of fatigue. I also have had strange shoulder pain as well. Is this all "normal" stuff following a cyst rupture, does anyone know? and what does "Complicated and likely hemorrhagic" mean?

Re: ovarian cyst rupture

Hi Amlynne,

I am very sorry to hear that you are so miserable.

Complicated or Complex cysts are cysts which are not only filled with fluid but which also have some other type of tissue inside of them. If they are likely hemorrhagic then this means that they are probably filled with blood. Your doctor will most likely keep an eye on these cysts with regular ultrasounds. Sometimes these types of cysts will go away on their own, as do simple cysts most of the time (simple cysts are filled with fluid only).

The cyst rupture probably caused all of the discomfort that you are feeling. The shoulder pain may have something to do with the diaphragm area which has a nerve that leads to the shoulder. Perhaps the fluid that came out of the cyst when it burst is irritating different parts of your abdomen. This fluid should be reabsorbed by your body over time. If you are still feeling bad, go and revisit your doctor so that further tests can be done to make sure it is nothing else (like an appendix or something).

I hope you feel better soon. Come back and let us know what your gyne says.

All the best.

Estria
