Why is my period back and so heavy?

I normally have extremely heavy long periods, but i started taking birth control like a day or two before my period ended for 2 days but stopped because i realized it expired in 2009. Well 4 days after it stopped it came back, heavier than ever to where i can barely control it and isn't slowing much at all, going on 4 days now. I am dizzy, light-headed, and sick to my stomach. I know birth control messes with your hormones and this could be normal, but i am scared about how heavy it is, that its not stopping, and that i'm sick from it. (and annoyed about it being so heavy and having to wash so many things). any advice at all, PLEASE?
