She supposedly started her period today. She had some intense stomach pain which she said almost brought her to tears. She said it was the worst pain she's ever had for her period. She said she also expected for the bleeding to be more intense for the pain she was having. Is this normal? She feels better now with the stomach pain, it is still hurting a little bit.
Rt2228: It's not uncommon to have pain from time to time. If she continues to have it she should get checked out by her gyno. Get checked for endometriosis, cysts, PCOS, and make sure it's nothing serious. When's the last time she had an exam?
Most women have some pain and discomfort related to their periods. When that pain becomes a pattern, or interferes with her everyday tasks, it is time to see the doctor.
Or, as 92261 remarked...if she has not had regular women's health care, this would be the perfect opportunity to get her caught up.
I am not aware as to her last appointment. Today, she's not cramping as severely, but she says she is bleeding more than usual. Should we just wait and see for a couple days and then if it doesn't quit, then go to the doctor?
If she is ready to go in, by all means make the appointment. Most women know when it is time to go, as they are aware of what is "regular" for us. much better to go ahead and go, rather than wait until it becomes worse. Please keep us informed of her condition...
She said today was better, and that everything seemed normal to her. It just seemed strange to her that she was cramping that severely. She's on day 3 of her period and like I said..everything is normal right now.
