Hello,

An hour ago I woke up from a 1.5 hour long nap and i found that i had completely bled through my pad, underwear, pants, and onto my sheet. This all had happened in the time of an hour and a half. The blood stain was about the size of a hand. When I went to the restroom and wiped myself, i found a large thick string of blood. My flow has settled since then. Was all of that normal? I'm only 16 and not sexually active. Please let me know, thank you.

Hi there! Try not to panic. When I was your age I had REALLY heavy periods. I remember bleeding like that. It scared me too. It is fairly common to have heavy periods as a teenager when you are getting started with having periods. It will straighten out. I am in my 40's and getting the heavy bleeding back and some of this is from hormone change as I come into ending my periods. fun fun huh? Well we will make it through. If you get too concerned do see your doctor. Just know it is common ok.
