pregnant wife

My wife is 6 weeks pregnant (planned pregnancy) and the Doctor has informed us that she will do a PAP at our next appt. My wife is fine about it yet I am very bothered by the Pap test. I donít know why, it is just really bothering me that someone elseís hands will be in my wifeís private areas.
Is this PAP test really needed? How do I make this stress/ discomfort go away?

Re: pregnant wife

You have to trust the professionals around you, they have your wifes best interests. It might help you to know it will be a woman who does the exam and it won't harm the baby or your wife.

As your wife is pregnant, she is going to have alot of people who want to have a look, touch your wifes tummy, and eventually need to touch her private areas. Talk to your wife about it and how your feeling. I am sure she will reassure you. It may just be all the excitement and mixed feelings about the new baby. It can do alsorts of things to you. Its big, its great, but its scary!

Re: 7 weeks pregnant

Well, all sexually active women and all women over the age of 18 should have a pap smear annually. This is to check for abnormalities that could become cancerous. It has nothing to do with STDs or other issues....it is to insure her health - and therefore the health of your child. Keep that in mind!

And just think about how many people are going to be in the delivery room looking at her. No time for shyness.....
