cytolitic vaginosis or cyclic vulvovaginal?

One is lactobacilli overgrowth while the other is hypersensitivity to candida.

For the past two months about a week before my period my vulva becomes very sensitive and slightly red. I can start to feel the change and it becomes dry and hurts when I wipe after I pee. It mainly hurts during sex and directly after when I pee it burns as the whole area becomes swollen.

I just started doing baking soda baths incase it is the lactobacilli overgrowth, but I'm not certain as it might be the candida. I have no discharge and never have yeast infections. Once my period starts it slowly goes back to normal and I am fine. There must be some trigger with my hormones during the luteal phase.

Re: cytolitic vaginosis or cyclic vulvovaginal?

Hey,

I am in a similar boat. For almost 2 years, Ive been suffering from vaginal itching/burning inside/outside, a little on my anus and slight strange discharge. Check out my past posts/threads for my history. I have been through hell and back. I think I might have Cytolytic Vaginosis or Lactobacillosis. I just began Doxyclycline today and Im praying for the best....With your symptoms, it seems like you can have a variety of things but the fact that your symptoms get better when you have your period is clue of CV....Also, Ive read that if baking soda baths help this could be a clue that it is CV or Lact. but if it makes it worse this could be a clue that it is yeast.....Like you said though it is very hard to tell. Especially considering some non-albicans yeast cannot even be detected.....

to SweetPea, i thought your dr told you that you had a non albicans yeast. How are you feeling on the antibiotic now? Do you feel like you have a cyst/bump inside the vaginal canal?

Hi Calgirl,

No, I was never told that I have non albicans yeast. I thought for a long time that I did but I never tested positive for yeast and when I tried the boric acid suppositories I was not cured so now I'm leaning away from that theory....I do not feel like I have a cyst/bump inside the vaginal canal...everything looks normal which is the strange part....how are you feeling?
