Severe pelvic adhesions -what to do?
I have had fourteen pelvic/abdominal surgeries which has caused a lot of adhesions to form. Several of the surgeries were just to remove adhesions which had formed from previous surgeries, but they seem to come back worse after each surgery. I have suffered now for years from pain associated with these adhesions. They have adhered my remaining organs (bowel, bladder) to each other and to the abdominal wall. The last surgeon in 2007 to remove an ovarian cyst and what was left of my ovarian tissue said it was the worst case he's ever seen. He said it was like someone had poured super glue all over my insides. I even had a foot-long section of bowel die due to adhesions causing an obstruction.
But, the reason I am posting today is I have been experiencing increasing pain, sometimes debilitating, and I just don't know who to even see anymore about this. My GP just has no idea. Surgeons won't touch me again (which I understand, I guess), Gastro docs only get involved when there is an obstruction of the bowel, I have no female organs left, so a GYN can't help. I don't know what to do, and I would really appreciate any suggestions.
I am a 41 yr old female, I have been on Hydrocodone 7.5/500 3X daily for years (prescribed by my GP), never increased dosage, but they just don't seem to help anymore. I also have been diagnosed with Lupus SLE and Fibromyalgia in the last few years.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully someone out there can relate or give me some advice.
