| Desquamatory Inflammatory Vaginitis
My doctor is leaning towards this diagnosis for me...could he be right?
Eight long months ago I had a bout of thrush. Nothing unusual, except that this time it did not clear up after a week of clotrimidazole cream. So I went back to the doctor and he prescribed two weeks of it. No response. So then I took the one-day pill for thrush ( sorry, it was a while ago, I can't remember its name). That didn't work. So I took another one. Then he prescribed a week of it. Then he prescribed a month of it. Then he prescribed Flagyl because now I had bacterial vaginitis as well.
By this time I was getting pretty desperate for answers. Apparently I had candida glabrata, a fairly rare form of thrush. And I was probably getting it because I was on immunosuppressants for arthritis. So they took another swab and the microbiologist prescribed Nystatin. That seemed to work to some extent. Still a discharge, but no longer with that yeasty smell.
So now I have a yellow non-smelly discharge, and I'm red and raw inside. But the latest swab did not grow any thrush. Could it be DIV? And if so, what have you found to be the best treatment?
In a couple of weeks I go to see the gynaecologists at the local hospital. They probably won't have even heard of DIV, so I really need your help please!
