Teenager, my period is 2 weeks over and have blood clots
Im only 16 and well, starting October of 2011 i started paying attention to my periods because thats when they were real heavy, and i mean massive blood clots and it would just run everyday. I had that going since October to December. I looked up if it was a miscarriage but, i dont think it was because i never had sex without condoms.. Then January & Febuary of 2012, i had regualar periods and felt real good, then March 10th, 2012 i started my period and now its the 28th of march and i just have a real bad feeling. Whats wrong with me? Any advice or whats going on? Oh, i had an intercourse while i was on my period once, is that what made my period worse? Please help

Re: Teenager, my period is 2 weeks over and have blood clots
You need to see your doctor about them. When I had them, they had to be surgically removed. They don't do that anymore. They shrink them now - Uterine artery embolization involves the surgeon placing a catheter, along with particles, in the uterine artery, which destroys the blood supply to the fibroid tumors. Myolysis is done through a laparoscope; a laser fiber is placed into the fibroid and destroys the blood vessels.
Good luck!!

Re: Teenager, my period is 2 weeks over and have blood clots
I agree that you'll need to see a gyne to be properly diagnosed but speaking as someone who also had a large fibroid, that's what it sounds like.
It depends what treatment the doctor prescribes. She might put you on the pill and then just keep an eye on it to see what happens. Or she might recommend some kind of procedure to treat it if that's what you have. My fibroid started out small but over 2 years grew to the size of a grapefruit and I had to have surgery to get it removed. But since we don't even know if that's what's wrong with you right now, I think your best option is to go see a gyne to get an ultrasound to find out for sure.

Used to be that they surgically removed them. Now they remove them with ultrasound or laser. In any case, fibroids aren't serious, they're just a real pain and nuisance! You need to see your gyno.

I disagree that fibroids aren't serious. I had no choice but to have surgery to remove it because I was bleeding to death. The ER doctor told me that if I woulda waited one more day I would have bled out. I needed 6 transfusions and spent a week in the hospital. Hardly something that I would ever refer to as not serious which is why it's important to first get diagnosed properly by a doctor and then get it treated. You don't want to end up bleeding out like I almost did.

I totally agree with kszan, you really need to get things checked out. Fibroids can be very serious. I just recently has an experience like her's. I'm not even back to work yet from my surgery. The first step is finding out the cause of your problems, then go from there.
