| Mystery mass - kinda long, but looking for reassurance
Hi, just looking for any stories (hopefully positive ones, lol) or feedback on my situation:
In July 2010, my gyno told me I had a small vaginal cyst after she did my exam. She said if it wasn't bothering me, we'd just keep an eye on it. It wasn't bothering me at the time, I didn't even know I had it. But between that exam and my next one in July 2011, I started having to pee a LOT and had discomfort during and sometimes after intercourse. At that appointment she said it had gotten a little bigger. She still thought it just a cyst, but didn't want to go poking around trying to drain it or anything without knowing for sure that it wasn't a urethral diverticulum, so she referred me to a urologist.
I never made it to the urologist until about a month or so ago because of having no insurance until then. Not smart, I know. Well he did a cystoscopy and an exam and said that he was concerned that it felt harder than it should for just a cyst (he was really thinking it may be a diverticulum at that point, possibly with stones or something inside), so he sent me for x-rays and an MRI, which I had a little over a week ago. They told me that the x-rays were "clear" (all they said), but when the MRI report came back it said it was a "posterior periurethral mass, located between the urethra and vagina, slightly to the right of midline, measuring 1.7 x 1.5 x 2.3 cm in size. This does not have the appearance of a urethral diverticulum or cyst, and there appears to be mild contrast enhancement. The mass is farily well defined, and does not appear to be a tumor arising from the central portion of the urethra. The appearance is nonspecific. Solid periurethral tumors are uncommon, with the differential diagnosis including neurofibromas."
Also says I have a large nabothian cyst on my cervix measuring 1.3 cm, no uterine fibroids and a focal minor irregularity of the anterior wall of the uterus that could be related to my c-section I had in 2002.
They are sending me to a uro-gyno and that appointment is the 17th.
Anyways, sorry this is so long, but I'm freaking out here and finding so many scary things on Google (bad, I know). Just looking for anyone who can shed some light on those results. *sigh*
