Questions... in need of fast answers please???

Hi there, there was this girl my son knew who he hasn't been around in a long time. Well she had a boyfriend and a son whom she had been with for a long time. Then they split up for a few months. She came over and to be exact it was June 15th of last year, she calls two weeks later or whatever and states she pregnant. Okay we deny , yeah right it's your other babies father right! Anyways she had him, well they induced her on April 5th this year. Okay now we are pretty sure it's my sons but cant afford to get a paternity test ugh. She had welfare send her the papers to have this done but the papers she got sent are confusing. What to do, cause after she got pregnant she got back with the other dad, and I have saw the baby it looks like my son!
Thanks for any hekp!

Get someone, pregerably a lawyer, to interpret the paperwork for you.

Okay, thank you, her caseworker said it would be done for free and said she would get paperwork in the mail but the paperwork doesn't make any sense to her! She called her worker and left a message and is hoping she get a call back ugh!

It would still be in your son's best interest to talk to an attorney ASAP. There are often low-cost or FREE legal assistance programs available if he meets income guidelines. Call your courthouse to find out about these programs.

Make sure your son doesn't pay any child support or any other costs to her unless you get a confirmed letter that he is the father. However, if he is the father, the judge may require him to pay child support retroactively, so he should be prepared for that. Even if he isn't working or is going to school, the judge will still expect him to pay some child support.

Depending on where you live, paternity tests are often free for the mother but the possible father(s) have to pay. Check it out with your local social services department to find out for sure - you may need to visit them in person as they are notorious for not answering phone calls/messages.

I'm not sure where you live, but in many states the mother often has sole custody of the child until paternity is confirmed and a court order for visitation is put in place. Child support is often calculated by the amount of time each parent has the child, and by how much each of their income and expenses are. Make sure if the child is your son's that she doesn't try to deny him visitation so she can get more child support. This is one of the major reasons your son needs an attorney. You'll need to find out what the laws are in your state and how they relate to your case. If you are being provided an attorney, they often won't be appointed until paternity is established.

Best wishes!
