Question HELP... hysterectomy incision burning SO BAD!

Anyone had this? My abdominal incision is burning SO BAD! I am post surgery 17 days. It started around day 12!! Its so bad and the only thing that helps is ice!!

There is no redness and incision looks clean. the incision itself and about 3/4 of an inch around it is completely numb.

Above that it completely burns to the point where i can not touch my skin!

Has anyone experienced this and how long does this last?

Any responses are very much appreciated.

Re: HELP...hysterectomy incision burning SO BAD!

What you're experiencing isn't normal by the way you describe it. My main concern is for infection, and I suggest you call your surgeon's office and have him paged so you can discuss this with him tonight. I'm not sure if an infection below the skin might cause such severe pain, and that's why you need to talk to him or one of his associates tonight.

It is possible to have some minor burning or pain, and that's often caused by nerves that have been cut and are regrowing. However, it would be rare for that type of pain to be as severe as you're describing.

Hope you get some answers and relief soon!

Re: HELP... hysterectomy incision burning SO BAD! FIGURED IT OUT!

I figured out what was causing me so much burning discomfort!! NO SUPPORT!! No one had told me I should wear support underwear! I was hand washing the hospital mesh ones that are loose and breath as i was more worried about my incision breathing so it could heal properly. Yesterday morning I decided to try the underwear and the burning pain and heavy feeling is pretty much GONE!!

Although from another post that I posted... i am still leaking from my cysocele and ha having a cystogram done this afternoon to see what is going one. My surgery was March 12, 2012. Just glad the pain has subsided with the extra support, now i just have to stop leaking!!
