I'm hoping someone out there has some insight for me.
I am 33 years old, type 1 diabetic, and suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome.
I have not had a regular period in about a year, but for the past month or so, I've had spotting. Sometimes it's brown, sometimes red, sometimes pinkish-red and more like discharge. I have also had lower back pain for the last several months, but didn't think much about it until it got to the point that sometimes I could barely walk. Last weekend, I was in Walmart and the pain was so bad I couldn't straighten up, bend down, or bend forward.
Today, I saw my OBGYN. Not much was said about the PCOS, but he told me my cervix is bleeding. He tried to take 2 uterine biopsies, but it was too far to reach and the only way to get a decent biopsy would be to put me under anesthesia and do it that way. He also scheduled an ultrasound for Thursday.
He didn't really tell me what he thought the problem was, and when I asked what was causing the bleeding cervix, he just sort of shrugged and said that's what we were trying to find out.
What are they looking for, and should I be freaking out?
Thanks for your help!
