| | Chronic UTIs?
I'm a 21 year old, sexually active (1 partner) female. My fiance and I are both STD-positive. For the past three years I've had a urinary tract infection at least once a month. I've gone to the doctor and they just prescribe me antibiotics. This last time, the doctor prescribed me some kind of vaginal gel (Metra-something). It worked great to clear it up. She said the UTO was caused by bacterial vaginosis.
To prevent the UTIs, I drink plenty of water and cranberry juice, "wipe" the correct way after using the restroom, only wear cotton underwear, and urinate after intercourse. I had a UTI (Mirena) inserted when I was 18, but had it removed 2 months ago because it had some undesirable side effects.
What else can I do to prevent this from happening? It's unbearable. I'm wondering if there may be another underlying problem possibly? Every time I go to the doctor, they prescribe antibiotics, I get better, and a month later, have the same problem.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
