Allergy to Period

I have a dear friend who seems to be allergic to her period. Every month she breaks out with new symptoms. This month her lip swelled up. If left untreated other parts of her body swell as well until she feels like she is going mad with the pain and itching. She has been to the doctor twice but they cannot find what is causing this. When I saw her lip I told her to buy benadryl and take it immediately. I also have her taking Probiotics trying to create good bacteria. It seemed to do the trick and the swelling went down immediately! Has anyone else experienced this problem and how did they treat it?

Re: Allergy to Period

What kind of doctor did she see? Was it just a plain doctor or was it a gyne? If it was a gyne then I'm very surprised that they would just give up without trying to figure it out. Maybe she should go see an allergist if a gyne can't help her.

Re: Allergy to Period

Is she taking Midol or some other med during her period? If so, she could be allergic to it.
