Elevated Hcg but impossible pregnancy
I went to the doctor today and got a urine test done, which showed positive for pregnancy. Now the problem is my husband had a vasectomy approximately 20 years ago which was confirmed as successful, and I have had no other sexual partner in over four years.
I guess it might be possible that I am pregnant, but it does not seem probable. I don't know what my exact Hcg level is, the doctor ordered a blood serum test at the end of the day right before I left. I should get those results tomorrow, and then I have to repeat the blood test Saturday (48 hours).
In looking online, there is some research that shows ovarian cysts, ovarian tumors, and certain types of uterine tumors can cause elevated levels of Hcg, but I can't seem to find anywhere that talks about what levels might indicate this. I did have ovarian cysts when I was younger in high school, and in the last year I have had a benign tumor removed from my right breast and the right side of my thyroid removed in January due to being covered in benign nodules. I just had blood work on Oct 28th and my TSH is perfectly normally, so I don't think it's anything related to hypo/hyper thyroidism.
I am pretty anxious as I don't want kids, my husband and I have made our life around the fact that we were not going to have children (He has one adult child from a previous marriage), and we are not set up or stable enough in my opinon to have a child. With him having the vasectomy there wasn't a concern for using birth control to prevent pregnancy.
I am terrified right now. I guess it is just a waiting game to see what the level shows. They scheduled an ultrasound for Monday Nov 26th, but that seems so far away. On top of everything we are right in the middle of buying a new house. I don't know where to even start; Like I said the possibility is there that I am pregnant but it just doesn't seem probable.
