| Ovarian cyst and microhematuria related?
Hi there, I'm a 20 y/o female who has pco (polycystic ovaries) and I'd like to start by apologizing for the tmi (too much information), but if anyone has experienced something similar I would be very interested to know what their experience was.
About a month ago I had an ovarian cyst rupture which resulted in fluid in the abdominal cavity but according to an ultrasound it did not require treatment and there was nothing to be done but wait for it to be reabsorbed.
Ever since then (about a month now) I have had a period (which I shouldn't have because I am on continual birth control pills) and the urinanalysis I got at the same time as the ultrasound (about two and a half weeks ago) said that everything was negative except for hi microhematuria.
I have heard that if you have your period when you give a urine sample there can be contamination of the sample from menstrual bleeding...and considering there was no bacterial culture (infection) I do not have a uti or bladder/kidney infection that would rule out this microhematuria.
So my question is, does anyone know if the inflamation from a ruptured ovarian cyst could cause microhematuria (from the "trauma" that area experienced during the rupture?)
thanks!
