Cystocele & Rectocele, help!!!

I am 27 years old, will be 28 next Saturday, and I have 1 child. My son was born when I was 21 and about 6 months after I noticed I felt kind of like nothing fit where it was supposed to. I thought this was normal, that you would be a little stretched out after giving birth to an 8.5 lb baby. I have regularly gone to my yearly check up with my OB GYN and have had a yearly pap done with no problems. Recently I've noticed that I've had to go to the bathroom quite frequently and when I do go I feel as if I have not emptied my bladder. The other day, after I had finished using the bathroom, I went to wipe and it felt almost as if I was touching my insides!! So I got a mirror and took a peek and saw a little bit of a protrusion coming out of the opening of my vagina and what looked like a bulge coming from both the top and bottom. The first thing I did was google uterine prolapse because my grandmother had this issue when she was in her 30's. What I found was a photo that looked idental to what I saw in my mirror. It was a photo of a women that had a cystocele and rectocele. I looked up everything that I could on it and it seems as if this is what is wrong and it is at a moderate stage. I don't understand how this happened to me. At my age. Everything I read said that it was found most commonly in post menopausal women because of the lack of estrogen and it could be found in women who had particularly large babies delivered vaginally or who had traumatic deliveries. 8.5lbs isn't particularly large, that I know of, and my labor and delivery were a breeze.

What I'm looking for is women who have gone through this and what their experience was. If you've dealt with this, what was your treatment? Did you have surgery to correct it? How do they do the surgery if that is deemed necessary? What was your recovery time after surgery? Can they repair the cystocele and rectocele during the same surgery? I'm really nervous about this. I had my appendix taken out 2 years ago via emergency surgery and I am in a lot of medical debt because of it. I had really crappy insurance at the time and I ended up with thousands of out of pocket expenses. So to face the possibility of going through another surgery scares me as it is. I would appreciate any information anyone may have. I am going to the doctor next week to get a confirmation of my self diagnosis, but I'm 100% sure this is what it is.
