Hi -
I hope someone out there may be able to help me identify what's wrong with me, because for about a week now, there is something wrong with me. I am a 26 yr old female in good health, apart from a "sensitive" bowel, which i look after by eating the right stuff. I can't go to the doctor with it because a) I guess it's embarrassing to describe, b)it's difficult to describe my symptoms and c) I suppose I'm just hoping it will go away... I am experiencing severe pain (so bad that i think I'm going to keel over) and it only happens sporadically. It seems to come when i think I need to pass wind or have a BM and it is like an intense flash of pain low down, it kind of feels like it's around the upper vagina area actually, even though I don't think it's to do with this organ... It's almost like I can feel the peristalsis trying to happen normally towards the end of my digestive tract, but now when it reaches a certain point, I get this pain. I have had trapped wind before and it is not this. The pain gets worse when I push at all, even just a little, even while urinating. Sometimes even walking seems to send shockwaves of the pain up through my middle and the whole area is sensitive. I am not constipated but my BMs have become less frequent and are painful because of pushing and even if i am not pushing, I have the permanent sensation of some kind of pressure pushing towards the outside of me. This kind of makes me feel that I need to go more or less all the time (althouh this is just a mild sensation) and I need to pee a lot more often since this started. (Also - it is not cystitis and I don't think it's a bladder infection - I've had these and think I would recognise the symptoms again if it were).
Could this be a hernia or some sort of tear? Has anyone any clue what this could be? I want to try to get to grips with what this could be before i go to the doctor.
I hope someone may perhaps recognise these symptoms and can advise me what to do. Also - what would a doctor do in this case? Would there be any need for any type of invasive investigation at this point?
Thank you!
-Jen
