: I have had diarrhea for the last 34 days. Been to the doctor twice, two blood tests and stool cultures. Other than an abundance of white cells in the stool.. they have no idea what it can be. Took the antibiotic levaquin for seven days a week ago; nothing has changed. Food obviously makes my stomach hurt and increases the number of trips to the potty. I am considering stopping food and instead drinking ensure. What do you think? It has all the vitamins and nutrients! Am scheduled to go to a specialist in another 10 days. Probably looking at a colonoscopy and a biopsy. Anyone ever had anything like this?

: I greatly appreciate all input!

: Thanks, Lori

Lori, I have to take antibiotics pretty often as I have persistant urinary tract infections, and the best cure that I have found for the diarrhea is yogurt. Make sure that it has active cultures in it. Frozen yogurt won't do it. Find some flavor you like, I prefer blueberry or cherry, and eat 2 or 3 cups of that for a couple of days or so. The yogurt helps to re-establish the healthy bacteria in the intestinal tract. You might have something serious going on too, but I know from experience that antibiotic use almost allways gives me diarrhea, the antibiotics kill of the helpful, and healthy bacteria as well as the harmful ones. Good luck.
