Josie & Gosia,
Thought you might like another update. After finally getting over my sickness, which no one could explain (maybe it was a virus?) and ending up in the hospital Saturday to be treated for dehydration (not fun!), I'm finally on the road to a complete recovery. I can't believe it's been 8 days already! I had my first post-op visit with the doctor today, and everything looks great so far. The pain is just a dull ache now, and BM's have been made a lot easier by using Milk of Magnesia as a stool softener, since the Colace just didn't work for me. I don't have to go back to the doctor for a month!
I asked the doctor to explain exactly what she did and how she closed the wound, since I wasn't really coherent when she was explaining it after the surgery. She said the skin tag was part of a large hemorrhoid, and she did a hemorrhoidectomy of that area plus the skin tag, removing the part she thought was troublesome. She used only one stitch, which is still there and will eventually dissolve.
I have a question for you, Gosia. How long was it before you developed a fissure? My doctor says that that is still a possibile complication for me because of the location of the hemorrhoid that was removed, but so far things look ok. I'm just wondering how this happened for you. Was it immediate, or did it take a couple weeks? Are you feeling better now?
I really feel like it's all over with now, tho. I'd have gone back to work alread if I hadn't been weak as a kitten from being so sick. Guess I'll get back to the grind tomorrow....
