: My friend has had Cronhs disease for 8 years now, and it has only gotten worse, mostly due to the fact that she has no health insurance.
: She was never able to finish college, due to lack of funds and her disease, so the only jobs she can get are low paying retail positions. She is constantly losing these jobs because of flares, and just being generally weakened from the Cronhs it is very difficult for her to stand for 6 hours at a stretch. She also has uterine fibroids, and endomitiosis, so when she has her peroid she has a Cronhs attack, 8 times out of 10.
: She has applied for SSI and has gotten turned down. We live in Illinois, I know eligibility varies from state to state.
: So now my friend is penniless, when she needs treatment she must go to county hospital and sit for hours just to get meds, she is becoming suicidial, and I can't say I blame her.
: Any advice for her will be greatly appreciated.

I just wanted you to please tell your friend to hang in there. I know it gets hard. I have not been diagnosed with cronhs but I do believe I have it. My daddy and his sister has it. I have had stomach trouble all of my life and I thought gallbladder removal would help but it has only gotten worse. I too, had the same problems with my period. I just had a total abdominal hyster. taking everything but my ovaries and 3 weeks ago I went back in the hospital and had them removed. My gallbladder was inbedded and my bowels were grown over and around my ovaries. The doctor had to cut my bowels. The stomach doctor I had been to never detected my bowels were like that, but they were. I have been in a lot of pain for a long time and could never do anything about it. I did'nt have any insurance. Thank God now I do. Tell her to please hang in there. I know it is hard. I also have had a hard time. She will get help. I know it seems like she never will, but just hang in there. My thoughts are with her.
