I have been reading alot of your stories and I too was diagnosed with Pseudo tumor cerebri about 3-4 years ago. I was in college going to school to be a Nurse when I began having these horrible headaches. I went to my family MD and he told me I had all the signs and symptoms of a Brain Tumor and I needed to have a MRI done to rule this out. Well when your as young as I was and you have kids at home to worry about and you get told you may have a Brain Tumor its a horrible experience. I had the MRI done and it was normal. So my MD sent me to a eye surgan and he then sent me to a Neurologist and thats when we discovered the problem. I had to have 2 spinal taps done to withdraw fluid and then My headache was even worse from spinal fluid leakage. I was drugged up on the couch for a week and then went back to see my Neurologist and he started me on Diamox. It was sucessful but it caused everything to taste funny so Now I am on Neptazane which is what is used for glaucoma. I am overweight and was told to lose weight and I did for a while and then gained it all back and now my headaches are back but not as bad and I wonder if its because of my weight. I did finish college and I am now a Nurse and you would be surprised how many people know nothing about this disease including Dr. I work full time, I dont let it get me down, I have a family to raise and I live my life to the fullest, and I do know how the headaches can be there are some days I take up to 1000 mg of Ibuprophen at least 2 times a day. But it relieves the pain with out the use of Narcotics. Being a Nurse I steer away from them.
