Juanita,

Re: your message----you did not mention whether or not both of your son's disabilities were degenerative or not. Since their physicians' have not diagnosed them with anything specific, that could be a good thing---meaning it is possible that what your son's have are delays due to mild brain-injuries; and like most injuries, brain-injuries can be made better, by creating new dendritic pathways around the injured area(s) of the brain. A child can have a genetic/chromosomal factor that induces many physiological symptoms, but if there is mental retardation, there is a VERY strong possibility that their delays are due to brain-injury alone.

However it begins, the main cause of brain-injury is (about 97% of the time) due to a lack of oxygen to the brain for a period. This can happen in-utero, during birth, just following birth, or during a traumatic incident to the brain.

Please contact "The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential," in Philadelphia, PA. Their number is (215) 233-2050. They are a blessing in the lives of thousands of brain-injured children and their families all over the world. They have been helping brain-injured children to become "well" for almost half-a-century. Their program does not always succeed with all children, but their program works. My son has benefited from their methods.

They teach parents how to properly diagnose their own child's brain-injury, and then provide you with a structured program for helping your child progress up the later toward wellness. Through their research, they have learned how to increase the "intelligence" of both brain-injured and well children, and this is not an exaggeration.

ASAP, read the book, "What To Do About Your Brain-Injured Child," by Glenn Doman (Founder of The Institutes). It will change your life, and the lives of your children, forever.

Good luck.
