: I am coming off a year-long drug habit involving ecstacy (mdma), coke, and marijuana, and am experiencing the same shakiness & facial muscle twitching as you are..I've heard of similar symptoms in caffeine withdrawal, so perhaps that can generalize to most stimulants (of which nicotine is a member.) I've been sober for 7 weeks, and the symptoms seem to be less pronounced..best of luck with staying off the smokes.

: At the end of 1995, I noticed that when I smiled, my face twitched. A year later, I experimented with ecstacy. The drug enhanced my twitching to a point where I started to get panic attacks. Embarrassed that someone might see the twitching, I hardly smile because of it, trying to avoid social events. I decided to try acupunture/acupressure for a year. He told me that a bone is pinching on a nerve. My problem area is supposedly the sympathetic nerve cervical spondylopathy. The therapy reduced my twitching to about 15%. My twitching still bothered me, so I went to a chiropractor. Now, my twitching is reduced much greater. I'm still looking for an end to my embarrassment.
