: : My friend's Mom thinks she may have Breast Cancer and she has no insurance. Where can she go in this case?
: : Her family is trying to get insurance before becoming trapped in the "pre-existing" clause...but I doubt that she should wait that long.
: : My friend's Mom doesn't know that I know, so this has to be on th Q.T.~ but my friend is beside himself...so I thought I'd try and get some answers
: : for him. Can anybody give me some info on where the uninsured are supposed to go for help?
: : Not having ins. should not be a reason to suffer. She needs medical help FAST! I really want to give him some hope and her some help!
: : We are located in the Manchester, NH area.
: : Any and all help will be appreciated!
: : THX!

: Does she not have insurance because she lost her job? She is eligible for Cobra insurance if that's the case. If she is low income she can call the american cancer society or a breast cancer society in your area and ask where she can get a low cost mammogram. Time is very important tell her not to put it off the sooner she is treated the better her survival rate is? What makes her think she has cancer?

I live in Manchester, NH as well. I went through the exact same thing with my mom. She had breast cancer with no insurance. First of all, contact the local welfare agency and see about getting her on medicaid. If that fails (because she isn't proven to have cancer yet), call "ask a nurse" at 626-2626 and have them refer you toa low cost mammogram place. Once you have a mammogram that is positive for cancer, she should be able to qualify for medicaid. Your other option is to contact the national cancer society and maybe they know of some way to help. Good luck and GOD bless!
