Judy, I have been just where you are. My Mother was diagnosed with the same cancer in August '99. My Sister and I were so burned out and angry the last few months. I just wanted to get into my car and drive and never turn around. Is there any one who could give you a break at least one day a week? Please hang in there, my mother would talk to other people when she would shut her eyes, the talked about food, she would talk about family, all kinds of things, I found out that its normal. I wrote a post above about a booklet that I found so helpful. Its called Gone From My Sight, by Barbara Karnes. Call your local Hospice Unit and ask them for a copy of this booklet. There is a section that talks about these conversations that patients have with the unseen. If you can't find the booklet, I'll let you know how to order it.
Hang in there with your Mom, you'll be so glad you did when she's gone. I know, my Mom passed away on Monday April 24.
Peace
