In Reply to: Decision - No Chemo what next? posted by Judie Bartoszewicz on May 09, 2000 at 05:16:46:

: I have posted before . My Mom (age 72) who has Non Small Cell
: Andenocarcinoma Stage IV has decided not to go through Chemo.
: This is her decision, her body and we support it. What are
: we to expect now as she also does not want Chemo, MRI's or
: anymore ct scans. Thank you in advance

before you let your mother give up you may want to consider she is suffering from greif. i made a suggestion on a drug called navelbine aimed at elderly patients exactly in your mothers condition, which is much more gentle then regular chemo. there is a post on the other message board you posted on from a patient who is taking this in stage 4 whose cancer has not disappeared but is remaining stable and seems to feel pretty good. if she absotley made up her mind you have to respect it, but she may be talking from greif or the horror of regular chemo, at least read the post by this patient on navelbine. whatever you do, i wish you peace of heart
