It's extremely rare to be born with cancer; there are only 4 or 5 known cases. It was a fibro sarcoma (also rare), in his chest (only 20% are found in the trunk of the body).
Max is now 9 months old, and we just finished up his chemo. The tumor did a lot of damage: crooked spine, heart on top of right lung, left lung was removed, so he'll need a saline implant that will need upsized as he grows. If you'd like more info on him, please visit his web site: www.BabyMax.Faithweb.com
He began his chemo at 1 month old. During our weekly trips to the hospital, I got to know some of the other patients. Those kids are really amazing. I have also started a corespondence course in children's literature. I was looking through the magazine market book and realized that I can write articles for adults too. So, since Max can't tell me what it has been like for him, I'd like you and your childs help. I've interviewed some of the
children at the hospital because I want to write an article on what cancer is like for a child. If you are interested in helping, please e-mail me. When I get published,I would like to send copies to those who participated. Thank you.
