After spending 14 months with my husband battling lung cancer, I think fear and paranoia come with the territory. Given what you have been through, it's no wonder you are afraid. But you have too much life to live, and as you said, you know what the alternative is. As far as the doctors statistics-ignore them. Yes, it is probably true however they are required to tell you the worst-case scenario. I know MANY people who have had their lung removed and are doing just fine. Try to think of the time "after" when you are feeling much better and enjoying the things you like. You can do this-it's just another hurdle you have to jump-and you will! My best wishes for your upcoming surgery - and enjoy the long life ahead of you.
