My heart goes out to you and your husband. I lost my Mother to lung cancer (non small cell) just 2 months ago, she was 63 years old. Ask your hospice nurse if she has a copy of the booklet called Gone From My Sight by Barbara Karnes. If you are wondering what to expect inthe coming months, this booklet really helps you understand. When your husband isn't hungry try giving him a glass of Boost mixed half and half with whole milk. My Mom liked the chocolate the best. She also liked mixing the vanilla in a blender with peaches, and mixing the strawberry with icecream. She also ate alot of homemade applesauce. She said that she could eat applesauce when she couldn't eat anything else. I hope these suggestions help.
As far as hospice goes, my Mother was only in hospice care for a few days but they were wonderful. They told us what to expect and why. They made sure she didn't suffer. Make sure your husband signs an advance directive so his wishes are known about life saving measures. I'd be glad to tell you more via email if you like. God's Peace to you and your husband.
