: my grandfather passed on saturday, july 1 at four in the morning. it was a complete shock to all of my family b/c the doctor had just told us he had another month to live, and he had only been in the hospice a day. today my mother was watching television and saw a commercial regarding asbestos and lung diseases, such as cancer. many many many years ago, my grandfather worked all the time with asbestos. she didn't have time to take down the telephone number in the commercial. i was wondering if any of you guys thought the number was worth pursing? or have any knowledge of the actual number or what they're looking for? please respond. email's fine, but i'll also check w/ the boards too.
holly, i am sorry about your loss. the number your mother saw was probably an attorney who has a group action going.was your grandfathers exposure through work? there is plenty of evidence that asbestos can cause cancer. if it was found out later his employer had asbestos, you may have a case. the center for disease control has information on asbestos and how it causes cancer. if it were me and it was my grandfathers employer who did this i would want to check also if a lot of people who worked with your grandfather came down with similar cancers.it wouldn't bring him back though, and maybe your family just needs time to heal. whatever you decide may you and your family find peace. by the way that number your mother saw may be a group action within your own state or it may be national.you would find out if you called it.
