My doc used carboplatin for me because cisplatin would be too hard on my bladder.But it plus etoposide certainly worked amazingly well so I am surprised they are phasing it out. I'll ask my doc about it when I see him next week. I've been in remission now for five years!
i think you are truely inspirational! thanks for your posts. i am just curious, they used carboplatin and etopside, how much radiation did you have was it with the chemo or after the chemo, did you have the brain radiation afterwards? i know that issue is controversial. your doctors sure did something right, and more could use lessons from your case. i don't know why they are using cisplatin more either, studies have shown the same results can be acheived with less side effects , but most doctors perfer to use it in first line with small cell and now they are thinking of it first line in non small cell.your doctor was right when he said carbo would be gentler. all that matters is in your case it worked.
