: Just had a lumpectomy a few weeks ago...stage 1`, grade 2 ductal invasive...Oncologist has prescribed Tamoxifen but after reading many side effects I am hesitant about taking it. Radiation treatment will start in a few weeks. I would like to know what the odds are if I do not take tamoxifen. Will appreciate any helpful reply.Thankyou.

My mother had Breast Cancer 2 years ago. She had the lumpectomy, 8 chemo treatments, and then radiation everyday for 6 weeks. She has taken Tamoxifen ever since and has had no side effects. As with us, this is probably the hardest and scariest thing you and your family will have to go through. She has had her mamogram done every six months since her treatment and her cancer has never come back. I would strongly suggest following what your doctor recommends.

Since this experience, I was determined to do my part in helping to find a cure for breast cancer. That is why I donate money from the sales on my website at www.2dietright.com to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
