: My mother, 53, has cervical cancer. Six weeks radiotherapy and chemotherapy (Cystplatin) have had no effect on the 4cm tumour. The doctors are going to do an MRI scan on Fri and an EUA on Tues next and then decide whether surgery (Hysterectomy) is likely to be successful. The tumour is very close to the bone but mobile. One lymph node also appears to be enlarged. We appear to be short on options. Can anyone suggest alternative drugs/treatment/therapies that may be effective or have encountered similar situation? We live in the Channel Islands and treatment has so far been at the RSH in Southampton and Jersey hospital. We are also contacting Mr Blake at the Royal Marsden, London for a second opinion.
I also have cervical cancer and had a radical hysterectomy. After the tumor is removed, then the chemotherapy is more likely to be successful on the remaining cells. I've had six weeks radiotherapy, 4 months chemotherapy, brachytherapy, and am soon to start brain radiation. You can mail me....DebbiLeeMc@hotmail.com
