In October of 1999 I visit a specialist because I had this lump in my neck, the specialist looked at it at said that I needed surgery (he didn't took any tests). He told me that the changes are 96% that it was a non-cancerous tumor, but it had to be removed. On May 31st he removed the tumor (he thought it was as big as a golfball, but it was as big as his fist).
A week later he had to remove the stitches, my wife asked him if he got the results of the pathologist back. He said that he did, but that he didn't look at them yet. When he came back he said that it was a cancerous tumor and that I had to see another surgeon as soon as possible.
That surgeon said that he had to do another surgery. That surgery took 14 hours and I had to stay in the ICU. They removed my parotid gland, my facial nerve and 60 lymph nodes. He said that there was a little bit of cancer in my parotid gland and a little bit in 2 lymph nodes. They did a major facial recovery, which include a gold weight in my eye and a muscle from my leg in my cheek.
Now the surgeon wants me to do radiation, and after all this I don't feel like doing it. Radiation means that I have to take out 3 molers, plus all the possible things that can happen due to radiation. Is there an alternative for radiation ?
