: : : She was on some platinum based drugs but has not been on any for about 18 months so that's why they have ruled out the chemo. She has tried the neurotin for about 4 months and it hasn't done anything. The gave her a weeks worth of immunoglobulin and a weeks worth of high dose steroids at different times and neither of them has helped. The only thing they have determined is it caused do to inflammation of the nerve but don't know whats causing the inflammation. Thanks for your response.

: : Lori,
: : What kind of clinical trial was your mom in? My mom has ovarian cancer too and it still doing chem (Taxol). I'd love to find something that will get rid of the cancer instead of
: : having her go through so much chemo. I worry that she will not be able to stand much more. She has has two reoccurrences and was originally diagnosed 3 years ago with
: : stage 3 (almost 4). My mom takes some medication for the numbness in her hands and feet. I will ask her what it is for you.

: natale, i don't know if this will work for you there is a clincial trial going on at sloan kettering for vaccine for ovarian cancer. if your mom goes into remission, the goal of this therapy is to teach the body to keep it from coming back instead of keep having to try chemo. they inject a proteine found on the surface and an immune system aid into the skin. maybe if sloan kettering is to far for you you can find another hospital that's doing this ttype of therapy
The drug didn't have a name only a number but it was made by the Eli Lily Company my mom is going to find out the number and I'll let you know.
