: : Hello all,
: : Our mother is just starting chemo and radiation therapy for stage IV nonsmall cell lung cancer. She is interested in supplementing her treatment with MGN3 (shiitaake and rice bran extract), to the tune of 12 pills a day, and with IP - 6 as well (inositol hexaphosphate), to the tune of 16 caps a day. Both supplements are supposed to boost the immune system's ability to destroy cancer cells.
: : Is it a good idea to layer supplements like these, when beginning treatment?
: : Thanks,

: Please do not use any supplements without discussing this with her doctor. The use of Vitimin E even interferes with radiation treatment, so I am sure many other drugs or supplements can counteract when taking chemo and radiation. PLEASE CHECK WITH THE DOCTOR BEFORE TAKING ANYTHING ON YOUR OWN.
: Good luck
With al due respect, the statistics on benefits ( double blind studies) with virtually NO side effects for both IP6 and MGN3 dictate using both in an attempt to rid your mother of the malignancy. Ask her doctors what the statistics of conventional ( without other treatment) are?
