: Hi - could someone please tell me the syptoms of Barrett's esophogus. THANKS!
Hi Kim, I was just diagnosed with Barretts esophogus. Barretts esophogus is a pre-cancer condition of the esophogus. It comes from acid reflux. My symptoms of aced reflus was a burning sensation that started from my throat down to my stomach! After eating a meal I would have pain in my stomache that would go up to the chest and at times it almost feels like a heart attack. The Dr. suggested I go for a endoscopy and then they found that I had barretts esophagus. I must go for yearly endoscopy's to check the progress of it because it can easily turn cancerous if not treated. I'm on 20mg. of prilocsec and it seems to be working well. Another sympton of Barretts was my throat closing up. I could never swallow food unless I followed the bite with liquid. Hope this helps you. Pat
