: My mom, who is 51 yrs old, recently had an endoscopy and the doctor found numerous stomach polyps (about 50). They did a biopsy on three of them and luckily the results came back negative. However, there are still many polyps which could be cancerous and she is not getting much input from the doctors. They want her to get a colonoscopy to make sure she doesn't have any in her colon. Has anyone ever experienced this or does anyone have any info? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Re stomach polyps, I read that there is a study that showed a small risk of stomach polyps from extended use of Prilosec. Site is http://health.excite.com/content/dmk/dmk_article_40067. I was on Prilosec off and on for about two years, part of the time taking twice per day which is twice the manufacturer's recommended dosage. This was prescribed to me by my gastroenterologist. My stomach progressed from gastritis to polyps in that time. I'm not taking the Prilosec any more. Does anyone know anything that would be helpful for stomach polyps. I am drinking a lot of water and keeping acids and sugars out of my diet for now.
