MY HUSBAND, AGE 41, WAS RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH A 15CM ISLET CELL TUMOR ON THE HEAD OF HIS PANCREAS. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT IS LOCALIZED. WE FEEL WE ARE IN VERY GOOD HANDS AT SLOAN KETTERING.......GREAT DR, NURSES, STAFF ETC..... THE DR SAYS THE TUMOR IS NOT OPERABLE DUE TO IT BEING SO LARGE AND THE MAIN ARTERY IS INVOLVED MAKING THIS OPERATION IMPOSSIBLE. TREATMENT AT THIS TIME IS NOT DETERMINED. THE DR FEELS THIS IS A SLOW GROWING LOW GRADE CANCER. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE WITH THIS TYPE OF PANCREATIC CANCER. LIKE THE DR SAID, IT IS QUITE RARE. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
