I'm so sorry that you and your mother are having to make this journey. SCLC is staged either limited or extensive. The fact that you used the term Stage IV, I am going to assume she had metastases at the time of diagnosis. Where were the mets and what was done?

As far as liver mets, I'm basically clueless. My husband has an adrenal met, but he is in hospice and chooses no further treatment. Here is a link about a treatment I've heard of for liver mets:

Since you've asked, I am going to be honest. SCLC is "the beginning of the end" in most cases, most particularly if the patient already has a metastasis. But everyone responds differently, so you have to choose the way you look at the situation.

I hope they can bring some relief for your mother and control the liver function. Please keep us posted.
