: I had a re-excision on Wednesday for malignant phyllodes tumor.(rare form of breast cancer) I had my path report faxed to me from the hospital today, and I'm sure my doc won't call until monday. All it said was that there was evidence of intraductal hyperplasia. Anyone know what this means?. It did not say atypical or malignant, or benign. Just Intraductal hyperplasia. As you all know, the waiting sucks.Thanks.
hyperplasia when in refrence to breast tissue just means that there is more cells there than normal. hyperplasia is benign. the only importance of it is it can turn malignant, so most breast surgeons like to take it out.(which is sounds like it was) Don't worry about that path report. benign condition
